I have to use a mac for work, and find, ironically enough, that software is often available for Windows or Linux, but not Mac.

There are upsides/downsides of using VM/Wind – depends on what we are looking at.

Most of the programs I’ve had don’t work or work too slowly. Wine also pollutes the applications menu with so many different programs.

I prefer virtual machines. Clean separation between Windows and Linux, and most programs work just fine without slowness.
